Brase Sports Update 11/15 - 11/16

Hello All !

Well, we had our last weekend of soccer this past weekend. Kylie started the day off in a Playoff game. The team fought hard but came up short (again). A coaching error allowed the other team the chance to score 4 goals in a matter of minutes ! Very nice. Do not keep a "Power Beast" away from the action ! So, the Soccer Rockers have finisher their 1 win season. I know that Kylie was happy to be back on the soccer field though.

Nick's team finished the season against the "Purple Jets". The final was a 6-2 victory (if we were allowed to keep score !). Unfortunatley, Nick's coach played him on defense 2 quarters, 1 on offense, and then proceeded to sit him the last quarter. His son was allowed to play offense the entire game. In the sports world, that's what we call "Daddy Ball". After coaching for 14+ years, I felt it was time to be a parent and let the coach know how I feel. And I did. This dork may bring me out of retirement. Baseball is next and Nick may have to show him what he's all about !! Just wait for Football. NO, I AM NOT MAD !! ;)

Ok, we finished the weekend with Softball. Oh, my beloved softball ! Kylie had a 3 game "friendly". She had a HUGE day ! She went 4 for 5 with 2 RBI's. Made 9 outs in the field and pitched one inning and struck out 1 on a great curve. She tore it up ! I am very proud of her !

Poor Nick was bored out of his mind ! But, he got the chance to get very dirty. At one point I looked down for him and saw him and another boy trying to roll a 6ft log up the hill. Oh, boys are so cool and so simple !!!!

Brase Sports Update 11/1 - 11/8

Ok, it's been a while. We missed a week due to a family wedding. Let's start with 11/1. Kylie was up in West Covina playing a softball tournament. Team Legacy went 1-2. Not a lot of playing time that day for Ky. She did get a nice hard hit to left though. Also started raining.
Nick's team played the Tigers. The Blue Comets dominated 7-0. Nick had a couple of really nice assists and one long range, left footed goal ! Very nice !
Kylie had another tournament 11/2. The played up in Oceanside. Team Legacy went 2-0. Kylie had a good day. 2 for 3 with 2 rbi's. Also, had a throw out at 3rd of a girl that challenged the cannon arm and lost !
Ok, on to 11/8. Kylie started the day with a hard fought 1-0 loss. The Soccer Rockers are getting ready for the playoffs. One more regular game, then it's for the gold !
Nick's Blue Comets dominated again ! Winning 7-0 (if we were actually keeping score). He had two bombs for goals. No pictures this week due to the fact that Kel and I just got back from Big Bear. Any hoo, next weekend will be action packed, so stay tuned !!!

Brase Sports Update 10/18/08

Ok, let's go !

The morning started off with Kylie's team playing "Inferno". Both teams were very evenly matched. Kylie started the first half at Mid Center. Inferno started off with a score within about 5 minutes of the game starting. Don't get me wrong, the "Soccer Rockers" have been playing very good defense latley. In the second quarter, the ball was in scoring position and Kylie scored. Then you hear the whistle then you see the flag. She was offsides ! No score. As the first half was winding down, she got another chance. Kylie slammed the ball through ! G O A L ! Halftime score, Soccer Rockers 1 Inferno 1.

Kylie then sat out the 3rd. Both teams went up and down the field in the 3rd. Late in the 4th with Inferno ahead 2-1, Kylie had a chance to tie it up. With two defenders standing in front of her and time running out, she blasted the ball...... the defender took it in the ribs for the block. Game over, 2-1. Kylie again, played very hard and tough. If they could have just one more Kylie, they'd be super tough !

Ok, Nick had the second game of the day. They played the Fire Ants ! The Blue Comets fully dominated the whole game ! Nick played very intense. Ran hard and ran over a couple of Fire Ants ! Whenever there is a goalie kick, you can see Nick watching the eyes of the kicker. Boy, what a crushing Linebacker he's going to be !!! Anyway, he ended up with about 4-5 assists and no goals. Great game kid ! Blue Comets 7 Fire Ants 0. Um ..... that's only if we were allowed to keep score ! ;)

Brase SPorts Update 10/11/08

Hello !

Well, I'd like to start off by saying "Happy 6th B-day Nicholas !!" What a big boy !! Second, I'd like to say congratulations to Kylie for bringing home the best progress report we have ever seen from her !! Ok ....... let's go !

The day started off with Kylie's team playing first. This was a GREAT game ! Both teams battled the whole game. Kylie played Mid fielder 3/4 of the game. She played very hard and played "big and strong". In the end, the score was 0 - 0 ! It sounds a little boring, but it was so exciting. The team is finally playing hard together. Kylie is learning that she is much stronger than she is fast !

Next up. Nick's team played the "Ice Monsters". He played tough and worked hard. He was all over the field ! When he did play defense, it took him about 30 seconds to get bored, that's when you get to see all of his super hero moves and new hip hop moves !! Pretty funny stuff !! In the end, the Blue Comets 4, the Ice Monsters 1.

Brase Sports Update 10/4/08

Hello All,

Well, we had a great soccer weekend ! Kylie started off the weekend with a very well played game this morning. The Soccer Rockers won their first game 2-1. Kylie played Right Forward and Center Forward and kept the ball at her opponents goal for about 75% of the time. She ended up scoring the game winning goal ! That kid sure is fun to watch ! Finally ! It was nice to see the coach make the adjustments needed.

Nick started his game before Kylie's was even finished. The Blue Comets played a pretty evenly matched team. Nick was all over the field. He scored once and played really good defense (even though he didn't want to !). He was his usual aggressive self and crushed the ball. It's nice to see the Brase Family getting a reputation as having very good athletes ! That is most of the parents think they're good, the other think they're too rough. Um ..... this isn't cheer, wimps ! ;)

Brase Sports Update 9/27 - 9/28

Hello All !

Well, it was a tough sports weekend. Kylie's team (Soccer Rockers) started off with a 7 - 0 loss. Um ....... time to change some stuff up coach ! NO "D" and no Offense. Not a good combo !
Nick's team (Blue Comets) played a really good tough team. They don't keep score, but the final was 4-2 ;). Nick got hit in the ear early in the game, so he sat out the second quarter. It took him to the 4th to get his senses back. Then it was "GO" time ! I know that soccer can be a contact sport, but I have never seen a kid go "horizontal" like the one that Nick got matched up with. Holy Moly ! Man, he's going to be a great Linebacker ! About 3 minutes later, he got his feet tangled up with another player, resulting in a "slow motion, airborne flight" with both kids crashing into the ground ! It was cool !! But, unfortunately, the other kid got pretty hurt. He ended up being ok. Then, about 30 seconds later, Nick crushed the ball right into another boy and knocked the wind out of him. Poor kid. I was ready to for the "other" parents" to start getting upset, but they handled it. Geez.
Sunday, Kylie's Softball Team (Legacy) went 2-1 in Santa Ana, They played well and Kylie did great ! There were a lot of Raider fans there, so the IQ of the area dropped about 50 points. It was a busy weekend, but a lot of fun !!

Brase Family Sports Update 9/20/08

Hello all !! Welcome to the new Brase family Blog. Ok, let's go !

Ok, well, Ky's team had a rough morning (again). Her team contiues to be very weak defensivly and offensively. It's tough when it's 3-4 on one. Kylie played a good goalie, but had a hard time with no help back there. She did play mid fielder in the second half, but again, not a lot around her. Anyway, her team went down 9 - 1.

Nick's team continues to dominate ! Nick had a breakaway goal in the first minute of the game ! He's a little beast. Nick played real hard and so did his teammates. Nick had a bet with Dad on his goals. No, it wasn't for money, it was if he scores at least 2 goals he'll get a Mohawk ! So, chop chop time ! He finished with 3 !

Next weekend is a big sports weekend. (2) soccer games Saturday and a Softball Tournament in Santa Ana.

Those of you here locally, if you need (or want) a soccer schedule for the kids, just ask. Have not seen anyone at the games.
